KINDERGARTEN WINTER TREES

Kindergarten created these wonderful winter trees.  As you can see they are deciduous.  We spoke about the shapes of trees and their branches, how some branches reach up to the sky while others lean down to the earth.  The students were inspired by observing TNPS trees from our art room window.  They twisted the trunk and manipulated the branches to create their final product.  Watch this space though, there is some more to be added....

YEAR 1 TREES

Year 1 is creating summer trees.  These photos show the progress so far.  The students observed trees on the school grounds and used 2B pencils to draw and shade them.  The next stage, this one, involved creating their trees.  Students discussed the activities that happen and the animals that appear during summertime.  They used cardboard, wire, air-dry clay and metal to make their trees come alive.  Some beautiful examples appear below.  Can you see the row of birds?

ARTS ALIVE - Visual Arts Camp

In the last week of term 2, three stage 3 students attended a two day visual arts camp at Avalon Beach.  Positions for this very special workshop are difficult to obtain and indeed there were over 50 students on the waiting list.  TNPS were fortunate enough to reserve three spaces and the images below show the fantastic painting and printmaking techniques learned and how these translated into artworks.  The students spoke to other students and explained the processes.  Here are two of the students and hopefully next week I will be able to post work from the other student who attended.  Just in case you are wondering about the paintings, the artists were asked to do something silly with them, hence the upside down look. The final student with some wonderful work.

YEAR 3 COLLABORATIVE CERAMICS

In preparation for the Art Exhibition this year, and in addition to individual works, each year group are creating collaborative artworks.  Using left over clay from FEAST, children designed, created and painted 3-4 small ceramic shapes.  With a partner they chose their base and each child in turn chose a small piece until they had 5-7 pieces.  They discussed how best to display their sculpture and tried different combinations until they were both happy with the final product.  I know they are for the Art Exhibition but I couldn't resist sharing them - I think they are gorgeous!  Here are just a few.

OUR ART ROOM WINDOW

YEAR 4, 5 and 6 have collaborated to incorporate designs on our windows.  Here is a peak at what they have been creating.  It looks fantastic here and even more impressive in real life.  There were a couple of rules, including no writing, but how can I object to "Art is the Best".  Call me biased but I think the students of TNPS could give Vivid a run for its money.
