YEAR 3 BOTANICAL

Year 3 looked at Australian printmakers Margaret Preston and Cressida Campbell and their botanical prints.  Students selected Australian Flora to draw.  Year 3 used fine black pens and line to create form and texture.  Ink dyes added vibrant colour to their works.  Simply beautiful!

YEAR 4 JOHN OLSEN INSPIRED WORKS

4R has been looking the paintings of one of Australia's most significant landscape artists, John Olsen.   Discussion about the artist and his practice included ideas of how he achieved his unique style.  Creating these pieces students used ink washes, pigment dyes, eye droppers and bamboo pens to achieve these vibrant, active paintings.   Movement is a key element and the students have most definitely been successful in achieving that.  

YEAR 2 BUILDINGS

This is the first of two posts - if we ever see the sun again!!  Year 2 have created these beautiful street and cityscapes.  They have looked at buildings close to home and far away.  Students used their knowledge, skills and imagination to create these gorgeous streets and cities.  From these images each student has developed a black pen drawing on clear plastic.  We are desperately waiting for some sunshine - we only need 20 mins, to create some solar prints to complete the artworks.  When the sun shines again I will post the next phase of these gorgeous works.

KINDERGARTEN AND YEAR 1 COLLABORATIVE PIECE

Kindergarten and Year 1 collaborated on these beautiful "Creative Bubbles".  They painted the background and then drew designs or images from their imagination.  I think we could take these to a gallery.

YEAR 4 FRED WILLIAMS INSPIRED LANDSCAPES

In Stobo Studio Year 4 have been studying the works of famous Australian landscape artists Fred Williams and John Olsen.  Although born one year apart, in 1927 and 1928,  Fred Williams died in 1982 while John Olsen turns 89 this year.  Both are important Australian landscape artists, whose works are exhibited in major galleries throughout Australia.  Below are the Fred Williams inspired works.  The students used palette knives to achieve what Fred Williams did with brushes.  These are strong works that have great depth to them.  Well done year 4.

KINDERGARTEN BIRDS IN THE TREES

Kindergarten is learning about school and home.  We looked out the art room windows at the trees and heard the joyful chirping of the birds.  Students painted their background, the sky, the clouds, the grass, trees, branches and leaves.  A little bird in a nest was added to the paintings to give a 3-D effect.  I love the spontaneity and uniqueness of each piece.  A forest of cheerful birds.
