YEAR 1 VAN GOGH CHAIRS

Year 1 has been studying the painter Vincent Van Gogh and his most famous artworks.  The student's noticed how Van Gogh used line to create texture, movement, form and pattern in many of his artworks.  Students thought about this and came up with their own designs, drafting them first in their Visual Arts Diaries and playing with colour to produce the works below.  Although Van Gogh doesn't have a mat in the painting of his bedroom, we thought we could innovate on the original, just don't tell Van Gogh, although I think he would have approved!

YEAR 3 CHRISTMAS PAPER

Christmas has come early in Stobo Studio.  Year 3 have been busily designing, painting and creating their own Christmas paper to wrap a special present in.  They studied various commercial Christmas wrapping paper, noting the repetition of pattern and colour as well as other elements and principles.  They drafted a number of designs in their VAD's and then started work on their printmaking designs with spectacular results!  It was more difficult than it looked.

KINDERGARTEN REINDEER

Kindergarten students consolidated their skills of painting and designing learnt throughout the year to produce their gorgeous Christmas Reindeer.  They have been working hard to develop unique designs and carefully painting their Reindeer.  After completion we created a small art gallery where students became patrons and wandered around commenting on the wonderful creations they saw, using words artists would use.  Each Reindeer was given a bell so they could be easily found if lost!
