All Kindergarten students look forward to making their Christmas Reindeers. Many thanks to the families who donate the special boxes and corks needed for their construction. The concentration by the students is intense, as they first paint the boxes in a colour of their choice. They then design colourful repeating patterns with Posca pens.

YEAR 2 Feast 2015
"Birds, bugs and bowls" was the theme for our year 2 FEAST students. With great energy they slapped and patted a cube of terracotta clay into a ball. Then after inserting their thumbs and widening the hole, they produced a pinch pot. This pot or bowl became the starting point for further embellishments.

YEAR 1 FEAST
These Christmas Plates were designed by Year 1 students during their first adventure with FEAST. These plates I'm told have become highly prized in many North Turramurra homes. Santa must be very familiar with them by now.

YEAR 1 Van Gogh
Year 1 studied Vincent Van Gogh. We looked at many of his paintings and talked about his interesting life. We discussed the movement, rhythm, line work, texture and brush strokes that are evident in his paintings. We explored ways of expressing this through movement and then Year 1 students became an object in his paintings eg. a chair, a tree, the sun. Year 1 created these colourful chairs inspired by Van Gogh and then designed a mat for the chair to sit upon. Even though Vincent's life was tragic, these chairs and rugs created by Year 1 are uplifting and happy.
YEAR 4 Papier Mache
I will admit it was with some trepidation that I embarked upon the papier mache journey with year 4 so close to the end of the year. There were times when I thought I would have to carry some pieces around with me as there was no more drying space left in the art room! However, as always the students of TNPS rose to the challenge and knuckled down to produce these stunning 3D objects below. They, the work and the students, are brilliant. Here is a sample of work.
YEAR 5 Silk Painting
Another tradition at TNPS is Silk Painting with gutta and silk dye. Students worked hard on a variety of designs until they were happy. They had to draw on their knowledge of colour theory to develop a successful pattern and composition. Well done, they are unique, bright and colourful.
YEAR 6 Scribble drawings and Apps
Year 6 were challenged to create self portraits in the style of Chuck Close scribble etchings and referenced Craig Ruddy's work, particularly his 2004 Archibald winning entry of David Gulpilil. Here the students have printed their work and then applied the apps Word foto, Glaze and Glitch to produce their own interpretations.
YEAR 6 TIE DYE
It has been a tradition at TNPS for Year 6 students to create tie dye at the end of the year. Here are the results this year. Mmmmm I think they are happy with their work!
