YEAR 1 Van Gogh

Year 1 studied Vincent Van Gogh.  We looked at many of his paintings and talked about his interesting life.  We discussed the movement, rhythm, line work, texture and brush strokes that are evident in his paintings. We explored ways of expressing this through movement and then Year 1 students became an object in his paintings eg. a chair, a tree, the sun.  Year 1 created these colourful chairs inspired by Van Gogh and then designed a mat for the chair to sit upon.  Even though Vincent's life was tragic, these chairs and rugs created by Year 1 are uplifting and happy.
