YEAR 6 PRINTMAKING

This term Year 6 have finally been able to use the wonderful printing press we have in the art room.  Year 6 were given the choice of linocuts or drypoint.  Understanding how these two printmaking techniques produce very different results is part of the learning process.  Inking up plates, rubbing back, preparing paper, setting up the press and finally running the print through the press brought these wonderful results.  Most students have not yet started painting into one of their prints.  These are just a few examples.  In my opinion, these are amazing results from my wonderful Year 6 students, especially as this is their first exposure to many of the techniques.

YEAR 1 ASSEMBLAGES

Students in Year 1 were introduced the artworks of New Zealand born Australian artist Rosalie Gascoigne (1917-1999).  Rosalie often worked with old road signs to create her assemblages.  Assemblages are artworks that are put together using found objects.  Year 1 created their assemblages by writing their name and a few of their hobbies and interests then cut them up, painted them and arranged them into assemblages.  Can you recognise any names?

YEAR 2 MONSTERS

Students in Year 2 studied the award wining, multi-disciplinary Canadian artist Lance Cardinal and his whimsical chalk pastel illustrations.  Year 2 drew inspiration from his works to create their own imaginary creatures.  They let their imagination run free and what wonderful characters they have created!

ARTIST VISIT YEAR 5

A local artist Louise B visited our year 5 students last week.  She showed the students her art practise of painting watercolour marks on paper and using her imagination to draw into these marks to create all kinds of creatures.  The students were very enthusiastic and came up with their own versions.  It was wonderful to watch the development of their creativity.  Here are some examples.
