In the art room year 3 has been looking at the
landscape paintings of Australian artists John Olsen and Fred Williams. Students have been practising their blending
techniques and creating sharp edges with acrylic paints. Year 3 students cut out a part of a map
of Sydney to glue onto art paper and then created fields of different colours
around it. Year 3 devised their own
key for what they included on their maps.
A couple of items were mandatory ie A river, roads, houses, trees and a
park. Students decided how they wanted
to represent the features of their map and used posca pens to portray
this. I think they have created wonderful contemporary images.
